Girl Gone Mom is giving away a Petunia Pickle Bottom Touring Tote (Review + Giveaway). I don't know about you but I am in love with petunia pickle bottom's line of stuff for mom's and baby's and daddy's. Currently, I have a boxy and a touring tote. I loved the boxy for when my son was younger. It was perfect to fit his diapers, a change of clothes, wipes and bottles in, oh and burp rags. He was a spit up machine, so I had to carry around at least a change of clothes, a burp rag and a couple bibs lol! Now that he is approaching two, the touring tote is perfect! We jut put a couple diapers in there and wipes in the PPB case, a sweatshirt and have just enough room for my wallet, chapstick, keys and cell phone! I do miss the backpack option, but don't need all the space on a day to day basis, only when we are traveling.

Just a usual Saturday...
Last night, the three of us went to my husband's friends house for a barbeque. It was really nice to finally meet another mom out here! I've looked into joining a mom's group out here, but it seems like the members are in a different age group than myself and only meet while we are in school. So they have a 7 month old little boy and another couple they invited had a 3 month old little girl. It made me want another one, I miss that age and time has just flown by since I got pregnant with Drake, but I gotta get this darn degree that I have been taking forever to get before even thinking about that! Anyway, they are a real nice couple and we seem to get along well. Hopefully I make some more mom friends out here.
Oh ya, since we had a bbq to go to I put off our trip to the grocery store until today! It is always interesting the people you come across. We're in the dairy section, and this little boy, I swear he wasn't older than 7, runs up to his parents saying, "Dad I love coffee!" What??? I would never give my child coffee at that age. My parents would tell me growing up that it would stunt my growth, not sure if its true, but either way, my child better not love coffee at that age. Yes, I am addicted to iced mochas and must have one every day, but that doesn't mean my children get to drink them. It is insane the things some parents do!
This reminded me of another OMG moment. We were at the hospital for my son to get his stitches out, and I look over and this mom is FILLING UP a BOTTLE for her toddler of Fanta! Are you serious???? What goes through some peoples' minds startles me. I mean really? Soda? and a bottle? This kid was well past being one year old! Sorry, it really upsets me. I'm no health nut but I'm also not one to fill my kid up on sugar and happy meals. And I don't understand why people give their children bottles after 1 year, I thought you're supposed to toss them after their first birthday???
And did I not mention the comment I got from the cashier, who I must say looks about my age! She asked if my son was mine, and said I looked like I was fifteen! ugh, it is so embarassing to know people think that, I am a little young, but come on 15??? Yes, I am still only 21, but I'd like to think thats a little better than being a teen mom. And I have been married for almost 4 years, and got pregnant with my son on our 2nd anniversary. Well, then the girl mentioned she had a little one, I really wanted to make some rude comment right back to her, but I just don't have the heart! I just remind myself that hopefully this means I will always look younger than I really am!

Fun Fun Fridays!
I love the 3rd Friday of the month because Drake doesn't go to preschool! So it is Mommy and Drakey day, and Daddy has a half day. It is wonderful, best thing about not working a full-time job and I just don't like to take classes on Fridays (or Mondays), especially so we can take last minute trips!
We started our day off with some breakfast, and listened to Pandora while getting ready for the day. Drake LOVES to dance to rock music, and it is oh so cute! We took Daddy a breakfast sandwich, and I got myself one since breakfast jut makes me hungry within an hour. Handed it to Drake to have a bite and he ate the whole thing! Must be having a growth spurt or something, 'cause he scruffed that thing down quick.
Oh toddlers, you never know what to expect!
I had to go to the library to print out some lecture notes, so I brought little man along. There's a lawn outside the library on campus and he headed over to it just to run around a bit. And just our luck, as soon as I went to follow him, the sprinklers turned on on us! Well, we ran into the library and started over to the computers.
Now, doing homework, or just anything school related with a little one is so amusing (for the people around you at least). They probably felt like they were watching an episode of Teen Mom!
Anyways, I'm sitting at the computer with Drake on my lap and he grabs my wallet, I just let him play with it since I was going to be quick. Well, seconds later, all my change and cards are scattered around the desk! I pick them up and once we get to the printer, there is a bus we can see out the window. It pulls away and Drake starts shouting, "Where'd it go? Where'd it go?" over and over adn over. I grabbed my papers and hurried out, I just hope the other students thought he was being cute rather than disruptive.
Oops, sorry if we interrupted your study sesh!
Now it is nap time, then off to the grocery store...

We are going back to California for a week in May to visit friends and birthday celebrations. Drake and I share birthdays, and my grandma's, dad's and aunts are just days away. We are going to Disneyland for a few days and so excited! It will be my son's first trip there, but my family has always gone at least once a year for as long as I can remember.
I am nervous about flying with Drake. We flew out in January, and I got the shortest direct flight available, and did the same this time. I feel so bad for everyone around us when he gets fussy or starts kicking the seat in front of us! He was rather content on both flights until we landed, but it was nap time and he started screaming for like 20 minutes. I need some ideas for our flight on keeping him content for 2 hours. I even plan the flights during nap time, but it doesn't help because he is so fascinated with the flight that he stays awake. Eeek! I just feel terrible disturbing others on the flight, but I am sure other moms feel the same...
I am really excited, but dreading the flights. How was your little one's first trip to Disneyland or Disneyworld?

Quick and Easy Smoothie
I am trying to eat healthier, so I bought a Real Simple magazine back in January that had quite a few healthy meals and snacks inside. The smoothie recipes gave me good ideas, but I was a little too picky to make them exactly as stated! I'm kind of a burger and fries kinda gal!
So here's my recipe:
-Frozen strawberries
-Vanilla yogurt
-Orange Juice
-Soy Protein (1-2 tbsp.)
-Frozen Mango
I'm also not big on digging out the measuring cups, so I just guess...
I fill the blender about half full with strawberries and mango
Add Soy protein and a couple spoonfuls of yogurt, then orange juice, and how much to add of that I guess it just depends on how thick you like your smoothies!
These smoothies really come in handy when my son is sick or teething. He goes on a hunger strike but is still usually up for a smoothie! So I hope ya'll like it as much as we do! =]

Potty Training
My son will be 2 next month. He has the whole concept of using the potty down, but only used it once! He loves to pretend to go to the bathroom in it and wipe his bottom and everything. Any ideas to get him to actually use it?

Day 1 - I have never "blogged" before
Hello mamas!
So I have never blogged before, but I think it is a great way to get my opinion out there, and it's something new! I just started reading blogs of other moms and found them really interesting, so I am giving it a shot!
I am a young mom and I go to school full time so things definitely aren't always all that simple right now, though I love having the flexibility and time to spend with my little man during his toddler years. Yes, we are entering the terrible 2's next month!
I recently moved away from the beautiful beaches of California to the desert of New Mexico, and let me tell you it is quite a change!
Hopefully I can get some good tips and ideas out there for other moms who are also young or always on the go!
We shall see...
